Privacy policy

Gorilla Bloom for iPhone, and this official support website.

Effective 24 October 2026

Your saved game stays on your device. Gorilla Bloom has no player accounts, advertising, or tracking. The iPhone app can send optional usage statistics (for example, which levels are finished) through Google Firebase Analytics, but only if you turn this on in Settings > Privacy > Usage stats; it is off until you do. This applies to version 0.1.1 and later; version 0.1.0 has no gameplay analytics. It never sends your saved game or the names you choose for the gorillas.

Visiting this website or contacting support is different: GitHub receives website requests, and we receive any information you choose to send us by email.

This policy explains how Alon Iter (“we”, “us”) handles information in the Gorilla Bloom iPhone app and on this website. The web version of the game is a separate browser experience; its progress stays in that browser, and visiting its host involves a normal website request.

Information in the app

The iPhone app does not require your name, email address, age, or an account. It does not send us your local saves or the names you choose. It does not contain advertising, advertising identifiers, tracking, or a developer-operated crash-reporting service. If you choose to turn on usage statistics, it uses one third-party service, Google Firebase Analytics, described under “Usage statistics” below. We do not sell your information or use it for targeted advertising.

The app uses bundled artwork, fonts, and sound, and you can play without an internet connection. It does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, photos, or contacts. Sound and vibration controls use your device’s normal playback and haptic functions.

Usage statistics

If you turn on Settings > Privacy > Usage stats, the iPhone app uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the game is played, for example which levels are started and finished, how often hints and undo are used, how long a level takes, Forest Home progress, and how often the app is opened. Firebase also receives your device model, iOS version, app version, country, and a random identifier for this installation. Statistics are associated with this installation identifier, but not with a name, email address or player account, and we do not use them for advertising or to track you across other apps and websites. The app does not use the advertising identifier. Gorilla names you choose, and your saved game, are never sent.

Usage statistics are off by default and nothing is sent until you turn them on. You can turn them off again at any time in Settings > Privacy > Usage stats to stop future collection. Turning them off does not itself delete statistics already processed by Google. When you are offline the game works the same; statistics are sent when your device is next online. Google processes this data under its privacy policy, and Firebase explains its handling at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

What is saved on your device

To remember your game, the app stores:

This information is saved locally in the app’s device storage. Gorilla names are optional names for game characters; you do not need to enter real people’s names. We cannot read these saves remotely. There is no Gorilla Bloom cloud account, server backup, or cross-device sync.

Apple’s device backup and restore features may include app data, depending on your device settings. Those features are controlled by you and Apple; they are not a Gorilla Bloom cloud-save service.

What happens when you open a link

The app’s Privacy Policy and Support links open this website in your system browser. Opening them requires an internet connection and does not send your game progress, gorilla names, or a player identifier with the link. You can return to the game and keep playing if a page cannot load.

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs and stores visitors’ IP addresses for security purposes, including visitors who are not signed in. Your browser also sends the technical information needed to request a page, such as the requested URL and browser information. GitHub handles this information under its privacy statement. We do not receive GitHub’s individual visitor security logs.

We do not add analytics, advertising, cookies, contact forms, embedded media, or tracking scripts to this website. Its artwork and fonts are hosted with the site. Following a link to the web game or another website brings you under that service’s own hosting and privacy practices.

When you contact support

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments or diagnostic details you choose to include. We use that information to respond, investigate a problem, and handle privacy requests. Please send only what is needed for your question. Do not include passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information.

Email delivery and storage involve our email provider and yours. We do not use support messages for advertising. We do not share them with advertisers or analytics services. Access is limited to handling support and privacy requests, service providers needed to deliver and store email, and disclosure required by law.

Apple’s services

Apple may process information when you download the app, choose to share diagnostics, or use TestFlight. If you send us beta feedback through Apple, we receive the feedback and associated details that Apple makes available to the developer, and use them to investigate and improve the app. Apple operates those services under its privacy policy and your device settings. The app itself does not automatically send us crash reports.

Retention and deletion

Your local save remains on the device until you reset it, remove the app and its data, or the device’s storage is erased. Updating the app normally preserves the save. Removing the app can permanently remove progress; offloading an app may retain its data under iOS.

To delete game progress, open Settings from the level map, select Progress, then Reset progress, and confirm on the next screen. This clears completed levels, Leaves, Forest Home improvements, family unlocks, and custom gorilla names. It keeps your music, sound effects, vibration and usage-statistics choices. To remove those choices too, delete the app and its data through iOS Settings.

There is no in-game undo for a reset and no developer-held save we can restore. A device backup may retain an earlier copy under Apple’s controls, and restoration is not guaranteed. Manage or delete those backups in your Apple settings if needed.

Google stores usage statistics under the Firebase and Google Analytics retention and deletion controls described in Firebase’s privacy information. Turning off Usage stats stops future collection; resetting game progress does not delete previously collected statistics. You can contact us with an analytics privacy or deletion request. There is no player account, and we cannot identify your installation from your gorilla names or email address alone; we will explain the available options without asking for your saved game.

We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, investigate related issues, and meet applicable legal obligations. You can ask us to delete support messages or correct information in them by using the contact below. We will remove information we no longer need unless retention is required by law. GitHub and email providers manage their own technical logs and backups under their policies; we do not control those retention periods.

Children’s privacy

The game does not ask players for age or contact information and has no chat or public posting. Its local saves do not identify a child to us. The optional usage statistics described above include a random installation identifier but never names or contact details. They are off by default. Parents and guardians should leave Settings > Privacy > Usage stats off for a child. Parents and guardians should send support requests on a child’s behalf and avoid including unnecessary information about the child. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Keeping information secure

Game saves rely on the security of your device. This website uses HTTPS, and support correspondence is handled through email services. No device or communication system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please keep your device and email account protected.
